Living Generously: Generosity in Action

Scripture: Luke 10:25–37 (The Good Samaritan)

A legal expert asked Jesus, “Who is my neighbor?” In response, Jesus told the story of a man beaten and left for dead on the side of the road. While religious leaders passed him by, a Samaritan—a stranger and outsider—stopped. He not only tended to the man’s wounds but carried him to safety and paid for his care.

The Samaritan’s generosity was not convenient. It cost him time, money, and comfort. Yet he demonstrated the heart of God by showing compassion without hesitation. Generosity in action calls us to go beyond good intentions and to step into someone else’s need with presence, service, and love.

When we live generously, our neighbors are not defined by geography or similarity. They are anyone God places in our path.

Reflection Questions:

  1. Who is a “neighbor” you might have overlooked in your daily life?
  2. When has someone been a Good Samaritan to you?
  3. How might you be called to show generosity in action this week?

Prayer:
God of compassion, open my eyes to see the needs of my neighbors. Give me courage to act, even when it is inconvenient or uncomfortable. May my generosity reflect Your love and bring healing to those who are hurting. In Christ’s name, Amen.
