Alive Community Outreach’s “Support Group for Homicide Co-Victims” was recently awarded a Ministry With The Poor Grant from Mission and Justice Ministries of the United Methodist Churches of Indiana.
The grant committee called the grant proposal “exceptional.”
The normal matching grant award is $2,000. However, the grant committee awarded Alive a grant of $3,000. While it is a matching grant program, Alive does not need to have match the additional award from the grant committee.
First Wayne Street UMC’s Outreach committee helped raise the matching funds as part of the April mission focus.
“The Outreach committee has set a target of raising $3,000 to support Alive Community Outreach – our April focus mission.
With the grant, Pastor Angelo Mante hopes to expand Alive’s ministry services with 1) funeral dinners for the families of homicide co-victims and 2) help with childcare needs/programming during counseling meetings, group therapy classes and courthouse trial sessions. FWSUMC would be part of a rotation of churches supporting these expanded programs.
