Ash Wednesday is February 17, 2021. As with the majority of our ministry over the past year, our Ash Wednesday gatherings will look different.
You are invited to watch a service of Scripture and song on our YouTube channel. That video will be available at 8am on Ash Wednesday. I would encourage you to “subscribe” to our YouTube channel so you can easily find and be notified when new videos are posted to our channel.
We will also be offering the imposition of ashes and Holy Communion in our parking lot on Wednesday, February 17 between noon to 1pm and 5pm to 6pm. You will not have to leave your vehicle! We will have signs and people to guide the flow of traffic.
We do ask that you wear masks when you are handed the communion elements (you can take communion at home) and when you receive the ashes. Our staff will be wearing masks and gloves when interacting with you.
The communion elements you will receive will have both the communion wafer and juice. There is a clear plastic cover over the wafer that has to be removed in order to receive the wafer. There is a foil wraper to peel back in order to receive the juice.
I hope you will take the time to view our virtual service of Scripture and song on YouTube and drive through to receive communion and the imposition of ashes at either noon-1pm or 5-6pm.
If you would like to learn more about Ash Wednesday, the UMC has put together a brief webpage to give you a little background on why we observe Ash Wednesday. You can find that article HERE.
