Celebrating Lent 2022

Lent is our 40-day journey, preparing our hearts and souls for the death and resurrection of Jesus.

At First Wayne Street UMC, we will mark the beginning of Lent with a special Gather worship time at 6 pm March 2. There will be opportunities for faith building and reflection throughout the season.

Gather | Resumes Wednesday, March 2

Due to the recent surge of COVID-19 cases throughout the area, we are suspending Wednesday evening programming at this time.  We plan to resume regular Gather events on March 2.  Thank you for your understanding.

January Worship Theme | Simple Gifts

On January 9, we will launch a new worship series called “Simple Gifts.”  Throughout this series, we will explore some of the gifts God has given us to help improve our lives as we navigate this world. 

January Mission Focus | Campus Ministry

Campus Ministry, on campus at Purdue University Fort Wayne, helps young people take a deep and honest look at the spiritual side of life and to provide a safe environment for them to develop a personal relationship with God. 

Christmas at the Movies!

This Advent season, First Wayne Street will celebrate “Christmas at the Movies.” Each Sunday of Advent, we will use a Christmas film to help us focus on the true meaning of Christmas.

Christmas by Candlelight returns to FWS this December!

The Philharmonic celebrates Christmas in a performance featuring highlights from Handel’s Messiah, plus other favorites including Greensleeves, Corelli’s Christmas Concerto, and selections from Bach’s Christmas Oratorio. The evening will end with Hallelujah Chorus as the  audience joins in song to usher in the holidays.

Share holiday cheer with Giving Tree ministry

The holidays are full of tradition — from baking cookies to watching holiday movies to attending Christmas Eve service. One tradition at First Wayne Street is adopting a family from the Allen County Christmas Bureau.
