Palm Sunday Concert

On the afternoon of Palm Sunday, March 25, 2018, come hear a combined choir perform distinguished American composer Michael J. Trotta’s Seven Last Words, a “seven-movement choral journey through the Passion, which delivers a powerful and captivating story encompassing a breathtaking palette of emotion, from intimate tenderness to majestic triumph” (as described on the composer’s website).

The First Wayne Street UMC Sanctuary Choir and Chamber Choir will be joined by the Trine University Choir, under the direction of Dr. Geoff North, who is not only First Wayne Street’s Director of Music, but who is also the Director of Vocal Music at Trine University.

The choirs will be accompanied by an ensemble featuring Fort Wayne Philharmonic musicians and Dr. Jonathan Mann at the piano. This event will be a full concert, with Seven Last Words as the second half, and with the first half featuring each of the three choirs individually and jointly, performing small choral works from composers including Ola Gjeilo, Alice Parker, Craig Hella Johnson, and more.

First Wayne Street has not hosted a concert featuring its own choir in over a decade. Don’t miss it!
