First Wayne Street produces an active concert series called Wednesdays on Wayne Street: WOWS. Every Wednesday in the months of June and October, at 12:15 p.m., First Wayne Street and AIMA (Adventures in Musical Arts) showcase a 30-minute musical performance from a talented local performer or group of performers. A light luncheon follows each performance and can be purchased for $5 (except that after the Germanfest concert in June, the cost for lunch is $6.)
On June 27, 2018, virtuosic Fort Wayne pianist Kenneth Jiang will perform his own transcription of the Variations on a Theme by Paganini, by Sergei Rachmaninoff. The variations, originally with orchestral accompaniment, will be heard here in a monstrously difficult arrangement for solo piano. Kenneth Jiang’s technique and artistry will astound you! This concert is not to be missed.
Our sanctuary is a wonderful acoustic space, and First Wayne Street has a long history of supporting and offering fine music. Our music program includes vocal and handbell choirs for preschoolers through adults, and often features soloists and instrumentals (including both members of our congregation and of the community).
