GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Director of Congregational Life and Nurture is the primary professional staff member responsible to assist and guide lay leadership in the development and implementation of programming throughout the church family.
- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Prefer Bachelors or Masters in Education, Religion, or related fields (will consider candidates with substantial relevant experience) - Strong written and oral communication skills
- Basic computer skills
- Valid Driver’s License
- Must be certified in First Aid and CPR

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: Develop, coordinate, implement and assess programing for children and families
• Be a resource for staff and volunteers
• Ensure that program opportunities include a mission component
• Support weekly Sunday School program by recruiting, training and supporting teachers
• Plan and present periodic special events including Vacation Bible School and other activities
• Hire, train and support nursery care providers
• Ensure that Child Protective Guidelines and other emergency procedures are maintained
• Ensure adequate resources and materials are available
• Responsible for conducting criminal backgrounds checks as necessary
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: Develop, coordinate, and support programing for youth and teens
• Supervise, train and support Youth Leader
• Ensure that youth activities include social, spiritual, and mission components
• Seek opportunities for youth to lead and be engaged in inter-generational activities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: Develop, coordinate, and support programing for adults
• Build healthy relationships and community through fellowship activities
• Seek to understand individuals’ personal gifts and empower them to use them
• Serve as a resource for adult education curriculum
• Actively work to engage new members in ministry by coordinating with other staff and lay leadership
• Strive for a variety of small groups and activities that will appeal to a broad assortment of interests
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: Facilitate effective communication
• Communicate and coordinate with appropriate church councils
• Ensure that programs are publicized through church communication vehicles and community sources when appropriate
• Serve as primary resource on Sunday morning for volunteer needs
• Maintain awareness of emerging trends and best practices for strong faith communities
• Meet and interact with peers in the community, both within the United Methodist conference and beyond
• Attend meetings, conferences and training as required
• Maintain appropriate records, including financial records, as requested
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: Facilitate inter-generational activities
• Plan and implement occasional congregational-wide activities
• Coordinate with other staff to ensure quality integration of Worship, Outreach, and Programming initiatives
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: Support pastoral care for families in need
• Be aware of the needs of congregational members, monitoring situations and alerting Senior Pastor as appropriate
• Coordinate meals or similar practical help for families experiencing difficulty
