The safety of the First Wayne Street community, including the congregation, volunteers and staff, is our priority. The purpose of First Wayne Street’s Inclement Weather and Emergency Closing Policy is to provide timely communications regarding the status of church activities during inclement weather or other emergency situations. Weather conditions may vary throughout the area, so everyone is encouraged to use their best judgement when deciding whether to drive in hazardous conditions.
Closings and cancellations
Sunday services
In the event of inclement weather, Sunday morning services will only be cancelled if Allen County issues a Code Red travel warning — no one other than emergency personnel is allowed on the roads. If services are cancelled, the announcement will be communicated as soon as possible after the warning is issued.
If services are not cancelled but driving conditions are hazardous, services can be streamed on YouTube.

If FWCS issues a two-hour delay, church staff and volunteers will follow a two-hour delay schedule. all morning activities at WCC will also be cancelled. In the event that FWCS cancels in-person classes, the church office will be closed.
Evening activities
FWS will follow the Fort Wayne Community Schools cancellation protocol. If FWCS cancels school or evening activities due to inclement weather, activities at the church will also be cancelled.
Sunday youth group activities
If Sunday morning services are canceled, youth group activities are also cancelled. If services take place that morning but the weather deteriorates during the day, the decision whether to cancel activities will be up to the discretion of FWS staff.
