During the month of October, we will be taking a journey through the Sermon on the Mount.
The Sermon on the Mount, found in Matthew 5 through 7, is one of the most comprehensive and profound teachings of Jesus. Delivered to His disciples and a gathered crowd, it outlines the principles and values of the Kingdom of God, challenging both the religious and social norms of the time.
The Sermon on the Mount presents a radical call to live according to the values of God’s Kingdom. It challenges outward religiosity and instead focuses on internal transformation, calling people to embody humility, mercy, love, and justice. Jesus sets a high ethical standard, emphasizing the heart behind actions and the importance of aligning one’s life with the will of God.
We have created a 22-day devotional that will walk us through the Sermon on the Mount. Each day recommends a short passage of Scripture for personal reading, a brief reflection, questions for reflection, and space for journaling your thoughts. You can find a PDF of the devotional below.
We will be using the devotional to guide our conversations during Gather on Wednesday evenings.
