One of the most familiar stereotypes regarding pastors is that all they ever talk about is money! Let’s be honest, pastors do talk about money. Jesus talked about money. The Scripture are full of verses regarding money. However, we all know that it’s not the only thing we pastors talk about.
During the month of October, we’re going to talk about…money! This month marks our annual stewardship campaign. But, we’re not only going to talk about money. We are going to talk about being wise and faithful stewards of all that God has given us. We will talk about being stewards of our time, talents and treasures. We will have an opportunity to make a commitment to sharing our time, talents and treasures at First Wayne Street.
Our stewardship series will focus on being wise and faithful stewards in regards to our missional witness. We will explore how God is calling us to “surprise the world” through five missional habits. Using the acronym BELLS, we will explore how God calls us to bless, eat, listen, learn and sends us into the world.
We will be challenged to bless three people each week, at least one of whom is not associated with our church.
We will be encouraged to eat with three people each week, at least one of whom is not associated with our church.
We will be invited to spend quiet time listening for the Spirit’s voice.
We will be asked to spend time learning more about Jesus through Bible study.
We will be sent to share the love of Christ in word and deed throughout our community.
I want to invite you to begin spending time in prayer, with a focus on how God is calling each of us to use our gift of time, talents and treasures to spread the love of Jesus in and through First Wayne Street United Methodist Church.
God is doing amazing things at First Wayne Street. Your faithful and obedient sharing of your time, talents and treasures helps us make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
