From the beaches to the mountains, big cities to national parks, your summer calendar might be filled with destinations. There are trips to help you get closer to family or to discover something new. There are vacations that help you get some much needed rest and relaxation.
But are you ready for a surprise?
God —and his work — does not go on vacation.
And, at First Wayne Street, our summer calendar is filled with opportunities for discipleship and fellowship.
Sermon series
We will launch a new worship series called “Love is a Mix Tape” in the month of July. Throughout the series, we’ll be using Scripture and music to help set the stage for sermons on evangelism, loss, obedience, joy, relationships, worship, unity, and more.
Rummage sale
On June 9, the church will host its annual rummage sale as part of the kick-off for Three Rivers Festival. All items are donated, and proceeds benefit the children and youth ministries. Shop,
volunteer — or both.
Picnic and ice cream social
July 16 will be another fun-filled night here at FWS! We will be having our annual Ice Cream Social before the 3RF downtown fireworks display! Events include a church picnic, entertainment and, of course, ice cream!
VBS
It’s time to rally for God. This summer, we will be partnering with Faith United Methodist Church for VBS. Youth and adults can volunteer in a variety of roles,
as we help children grow in their faith through engaging, fun activities. VBS will be July 18 to 21.
Youth events
Members of the youth ministry are invited to buckle up and enjoy the summer.
On July 31, youth are invited to attend “The Spongebob Musical” at the Civic Theatre. Jonathan Miller, a student at Carroll High School, is a member of the cast.
The annual amusement park trip will be Saturday, August 6. The cost of the day is $50, which includes admission to Kings Island and an all-day dining pass.
